The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) will be moving a large number of military vehicles from Edmonton to Calgary starting tomorrow (May 15) and continuing until May 30 in preparation for the 2025 G7 Leaders’ Summit.

The vehicles will be travelling west on Highway 216 (Anthony Henday), south to Hwy. 2 (Queen Elizabeth II), west on Highway 201, west on Hwy. 1 and south on Hwy. 40.

The CAF is supporting the RCMP-led Integrated Safety and Security Group (ISSG), which is overseeing safety and security efforts for the summit. To minimize traffic disruptions, the vehicle convoys will travel during evening hours. Motorists are urged to drive cautiously around the convoys.

For operational security reasons, officials will not disclose the number or type of vehicles involved.

In addition to road movements, the CAF will provide planning support, air mobility, rural surveillance, aerospace defence, and specialized response capabilities in chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive threats.
