We've had quite the lead-up to the long weekend, with torrential downpours hitting the southeast over the past couple of days, leaving behind plenty of moisture. But the weekend itself may not be all bad, despite what the rains leave behind.

That's the forecast fromĀ Scott Kehler, the Chief Scientist at Weatherlogics in Winnipeg.

"Not a really nice long weekend to start off, but as we get later into the long weekend, especially Sunday-Monday, conditions will recover a bit. Going to be nowhere near as hot as we've seen to start the month of May, but we'll probably see fairly normal temperatures, highs in the upper teens."

For those of us in the Estevan area, the last bits of this system will be some rain that'll stop by this afternoon.

For communities that are further north in the southeast, Kehler says they may see some frostier precipitation before it moves out.

"As the system begins to depart early on Saturday morning, there's going to be a lot of cold air wrapping around on the backside of the squall. So I wouldn't even be surprised if we heard reports of a few flurries in eastern Saskatchewan Saturday morning or Friday night as the rain is winding down and the temperatures are falling."

Kehler says that while it will take a second for the weekend to cheer up a bit, the weekend will have better weather than what the southeast has seen over the past couple of days.
