Die, My Love, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, premiered at the 78th Cannes Film Festival on May 17. According to Variety, the film received a six-minute standing ovation following its world premiere and is in competition for the Palme d’Or.

The movie was filmed in Calgary, Okotoks, Didsbury and at a farmhouse near Balzac, according to production advocacy group Keep Alberta Rolling.

Another screen production filmed in Alberta also made headlines this month.

A Netflix teen drama filmed in Alberta has been renewed for a third season.

My Life with the Walter Boys has been renewed for a third season, Netflix confirmed on May 14 on its platform Tudum. Season 2 is expected to premiere later in 2025, with Season 3 scheduled for release in 2026.

Filming locations listed on Netflix’s promotional site, Netflix in Your Neighbourhood, include Calgary, Cochrane, Crossfield and Kananaskis Country. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television International and iGeneration Studios, known for The Kissing Booth trilogy.

According to Netflix, the show follows 15-year-old Jackie Howard, a Manhattan teenager who relocates to rural Colorado after losing her family in a tragic accident. She moves in with her new guardian — her mother’s best friend — and navigates life alongside “eight very rowdy boys.”

The cast includes Nikki Rodriguez as Jackie, Sarah Rafferty as Katherine, Marc Blucas as George, Noah LaLonde as Cole, and Ashby Gentry as Alex. Supporting actors listed by Netflix include Connor Stanhope, Johnny Link, Corey Fogelmanis, Jaylan Evans, Zoë Soul, Isaac Arellanes, Myles Perez, Alex Quijano, Ashley Tavares, Dean Petriw, Alix West Lefler, Lennix James, Alisha Newton, Ellie O’Brien, Kolton Stewart, Mya Lowe, Gabrielle Jacinto, Jesse Lipscombe, Nathaniel Arcand, Natalie Sharp, Carson MacCormac, Janet Kidder, Riele Downs and Jake Manley.

The series is based on the novel by Ali Novak. Melanie Halsall serves as showrunner and executive producer, alongside Ed Glauser and Becky Hartman Edwards.

Netflix says Season 1 spent eight weeks in its Global English Top 10 and reached the Top 10 in 88 countries.
