The southeast has seen a lot of rain over the last few weeks, with a major rainstorm hitting the area on Wednesday and lasting into Friday afternoon. That left much of the southeast choked with more moisture than most people were expecting.

From Environment Canada's figures, it was a whole lot of rain for the southeast, as laid out by Meteorologist Danielle Desjardins.

"Last week, we did have a pretty strong Colorado low that gave widespread precipitation to Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Insofar as rainfall totals, we issued a weather summary. It was a 48-hour precipitation amount up until 1 p.m. on Friday. So Estevan got 71 millimetres, Maryfield 58.9, Weyburn 32.7, Regina 22.1."

A few volunteer weather observers even reported rain totals above 100 millimetres, seen in areas like Radville and Kenosee Lake.

That's a significant figure for the southeast, especially compared to what we usually expect over the course of a month.

"It depends on the station. For Estevan, the normal is 65.7 millimetres. So receiving, I believe it was 71, that's basically over your whole monthly precipitation amounts for the month of May. So it was a very, very big event. And it gave basically a month's worth of precipitation all in one shot."

More rain is expected to come through this week for the southeast, but Desjardins says she doubts it'll be worse than what we saw last week.
