More rain is in Estevan's future, even though we just got through a system which dumped a whole lot of rain over the southeast. With more rain coming down than we usually average over a month, the new systems coming in this week may be overkill for moisture.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Danielle Desjardins says we've got some more rain coming through with a pair of systems over the week.
"We've got a lot of moisture streaming up from a low-pressure system in the United States, actually, and that's going to be the main thing that's causing the precipitation over southern Saskatchewan this week, basically today through Wednesday. So there will be a chance of rain."
"Friday could see a little bit more moisture streaming in from the United States again and affecting extreme southern Saskatchewan. So another chance of precipitation Friday into Saturday."
Luckily, Desjardins says we're unlikely to see the huge downpours which plagued the area last week, with some lighter showers on and off over the week.
The systems will also hail a new weather pattern which will get us out of the unseasonal cold which came with the earlier rain.
"It was quite a bit cooler than average after that big system came through last week, and that's going to continue for the next few days. But slowly making our way up to around seasonal, especially Thursday, looks like we could almost reach a 20-degree mark for Estevan and then another period of possible showers Friday and Saturday. So a little bit cooler."
The cold we're feeling now could cause some frostier precipitation to come in early in the week.
"It's cool enough that we could be seeing a little bit of snow. It won't be a lot, but the most likely time would be overnight tonight into Wednesday morning."
Temperatures will stabilize to seasonal by next week, though Desjardins says the weather systems may not be as stabilized just yet.
