Mentoring goes mobile in Lacombe this September, as residents are invited to join a unique 30-person group bike ride.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lacombe and District (BBBS) is inviting the community to take part in its first-ever MEGABike Day on Sept. 19.

Riders will team up on a 30-person bike, pedalling a 3.5-kilometre loop through downtown Lacombe starting and ending at Leto’s Steakhouse and Bar. Scheduled rides begin at 9 a.m. and run throughout the day.

Anyone aged 14 and older can participate, with registration set at $50 per person. Riders are encouraged to dress up in business attire, costumes, or team themes.

“We're telling people to dress up, rock their business attire or maybe have a fun team theme,” said Brianna Berthiaume, executive director of BBBS.

Berthiaume said proceeds will directly support mentoring programs.

“Funding from MEGABike will go directly into our mentoring program. Within our organization, we support over 440 mentoring relationships a year and nine different types of mentoring programs,” she said.

The event will feature music, a video recording of the ride, and an after-party with a photo booth and silent auction.
