June 24, 1953 - May 26, 2025
Dan Nephin took his final flight on May 26th, surrounded by his whole family just like another holiday meal at Grandma’s house. He was coming up on his 72nd birthday, and his 50th wedding anniversary with his wife, Michele.
Family was what mattered to him the most, and he was rich in that: 5 grandchildren (Millie, Woody, River, Winnie, Ozzie) loved him unconditionally. They brought joy and occasional chaos which made him laugh. He was held by his wife Michele; his son Dan Jr (Jenny); and his daughter Niki (Chris), to his last breath. His brother Tom (Tara) Christiansen; and sister Lee Ann (Pat) Luepke, and their children Brody and Maddy Knelsen, and Dalton Christiansen also stood by him through a lengthy battle with cancer, and in his last moments. He was so loved.
Dan grew up and lived in Swift Current most of his life. He spent countless hours on the prairie landscape working in the oil patch. He was meticulous in his work, and smart as a whip. He could fix anything, and was generous in passing on his wisdom. He and Michele built their business Torquemaster which was a great source of pride. His success was equally born of stubbornness, reliability, and a work ethic that was unparalleled.
Many will know him from his various coffee spots, men’s night at the Chinook golf club, as a long time Broncos fan or through his retirement passion of flying as an amateur pilot. He was someone who always lent a hand, and always carried milkbones in his truck for dogs because he stopped to pet every single one he encountered!! He was salt of the earth, and he will be deeply missed.
He is returned to the universe to be with those he loved who went before him: his grandparents Jessie and Dick McCarthy; his parents Mae and Glen Christiansen; his in-laws: John, Norma, Lindsay and Joy Mueller, and their daughter Charmaine; his uncles Bud and Blaine McCarthy. We hope he was greeted by his dogs: Diva and Lady, and his cats Nugget, Fred, and Willy.
There will be a memorial party at a later date to celebrate and share stories of Dan’s life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the SPCA in his name.
