Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools is thrilled to announce that St. Joseph High School humanities/CTS teacher Jillian Klevyer has been selected as the winner of the Alberta School Board Association (ASBA) 2025 Edwin Parr Award for Zone 4.

The Edwin Parr Award is named after a longtime trustee and former president of the ASBA, who established the award in 1964 to recognize excellence among first-year teachers.

Klevyer’s win was announced at the 2025 ASBA Zone 4 Awards Ceremony, which was held on May 26 at the Innisfail Golf Club.

She said it was difficult to put into words what the recognition means to her, though she felt tremendously grateful.

“While the award acknowledges my first year as a teacher, I have never walked this journey alone,” said Klevyer.

“I’ve been with Red Deer Catholic for seven years—six as an Educational Assistant and one as a teacher—and throughout that time, I’ve witnessed extraordinary educators transform lives, build meaningful relationships, and weave faith into every part of their teaching. I am where I am today because of these remarkable individuals who move mountains with their dedication and embody the very qualities I strive to reflect in my own practice.”

St. Joseph High School principal Gary Gylander said Klevyer should be proud of her latest accomplishment.

“Jillian receiving this award is a true testament to the passion, time and love she has put forth into her vocation,” said Gylander.

“She is an outstanding educator who is changing and impacting the lives of all students she encounters through the love, compassion and strong instructional practices shared.”
