Member of Parliament for Red Deer, Burton Bailey released the following statement on the Speech from the Throne given yesterday:
“I was honoured to represent the people of the Red Deer riding during His Majesty King Charles III's delivery of the Speech from the Throne, marking the official opening of the 45th Parliament. The presence of His Majesty the King and Her Majesty Queen Camilla was a meaningful and historic moment for all Canadians." says Bailey
"However, today’s Throne Speech confirms that Mark Carney’s Liberal government is more of the same Liberal government the people of Red Deer rejected in the past election. Indeed, the Prime Minister believes that more government intervention is the answer to the problems Canadians face every day. Rather than reducing red tape and empowering the private sector, the Speech from the Throne promised to create more federal bureaucracy. These initiatives will lead to increased Ottawa interference in areas that are best managed by provinces and local communities." he states.
"Families in Red Deer aren’t asking for more government—they’re asking for a break from government. They’re asking to reduce the cost of living by lowering government spending, taxes, and inflation; to get homes built by cutting taxes and red tape on construction; to restore our economic independence by unleashing our businesses and resources; to bring back safety to our streets, and to get immigration under control after the lost Liberal decade."
"But once again, the Prime Minister ignored Alberta. No mention of removing the “no pipelines” bill (C-69), the tanker ban (C-48), or the emissions cap—all of which threaten jobs and prosperity in our province and come at the expense of the hard-working people of Central Alberta." he adds.
"Throughout this session of Parliament, that is what I will fight for, together with my colleagues in the Conservative caucus. While the Prime Minister grows government, I will fight for practical, common-sense solutions that respect provincial jurisdiction, support our energy sector, and restore affordability for all Canadians" he concludes.
