Phase 2 of the Alix Lake dredging project has begun and is expected to continue through to the end of June.

The Village's goal is to remove vegetation in high-use areas such as the boat launch, beach area, and the middle of the lake to improve water depth and reduce the buildup of organic matter.

This effort aims to support the overall health of the lake.

Access to the nature trail will be limited during the project, and from the bridge to the gazebo there will be no access permitted, and barricades will be up.

Hazards and visual markers will be placed within the lake to ensure safety for water sports like boating or sea-doo's as there will be increased potentials of harm both above and below the surface of the water.

Last year's dredging project removed more than 10 tons of organic matter from the lake bottom.

Notably, Alix Lake was one of the few lakes in the region that did not experience blue-green algae blooms in 2024.

The Town of Alix appreciates the public's patience and understanding throughout the duration of this project.
