One of Cochrane’s biggest and most beloved events is back this weekend. Footstock returns for its 26th year on Sunday, June 1, promising a full day of racing, community spirit, and healthy living.
More than 1,000 participants and 250 volunteers are expected to take part in this year’s event, which includes a variety of races for all ages and skill levels. The lineup features a 3K Family Fun Run, 5K, 8K, 10K, and an 18K relay, along with the popular Kids Triathlon, which has already sold out with 500 young athletes registered.
Organizers say this year’s 18K relay has hit a new milestone, with 33 teams signed up, the highest number in event history.
After celebrating its 25th anniversary last year, Footstock continues to grow in both numbers and reach. While the majority of participants are local, the event also attracts runners from across Alberta and beyond.

More than just a race, Footstock supports several local causes, with proceeds going to organizations like the Cochrane Activettes and the Cochrane Food Bank. Both groups are also actively involved as volunteers.
Known for its scenic course along the Bow River and its family-friendly atmosphere, Footstock remains a highlight on Cochrane’s community calendar, welcoming everyone from seasoned runners to first-time participants.
