Seniors Week gets started on Monday in Red Deer with a full list of activities for 55+ adults to take part in at the Golden Circle Resource Center.
The events mark a week dedicated to honouring and celebrating the contributions of older adults in the community.

🎉 Red Deer Celebrates Seniors Week: “Through the Decades”
Hosted by the Golden Circle Senior Resource Centre | June 3–7
📅 Monday: Kickoff Celebration!
🪕 10:30 a.m. – Performance by the Golden Circle’s own "Golden Ukes"
🎤 11:00 a.m. – Mayoral proclamation and Elder blessing, with community groups and associations
🍔 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. – BBQ lunch: burgers, chips and a drink for $5
🎲 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. – Old-fashioned picnic games, rickshaw rides, massages by ACMT and live tunes from "The Plaiders"
🚌 Tuesday: A Trip Down Memory Lane
🎟️ 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. – Reynolds Museum Bus Trip: $50 includes lunch, transport and entry. Dress in ‘80s style! Call 403-343-6074 to register
🏛️ 10:00 a.m. – Red Deer MAG presents its historic collection
🎨 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. – "Colour Me Happy": colour, chat and enjoy coffee and pastries, $5
🍗 Wednesday: Laughter & Lunch
🍽️ 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. – Oven-fried chicken lunch: $10 (members), $12 (non-members)
🎭 1:30 p.m. – Doors open for 2:00 p.m. show: "Popovich’s Rock n’ Roll Comedy Show", $5. Call 403-343-6074 to register
👟 Thursday: Generations Unite & Rock the Night
🚶 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. – "Steps Across Generations": intergenerational walk with Grade 5 students, play games and enjoy ice cream truck treats
🎸 5:00 p.m. – "Rock Around the Clock Sock Hop" ($25): Dinner at 5:30 p.m. Live music by "Desperate Measures" at 7:00 p.m. Call 403-343-6074 to book your spot
🥞 Friday: Breakfast & a Movie
🥞 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. – Pancake breakfast: $9 (members), $11 (non-members)
🎬 11:00 a.m. – Movie screening of the musical favourite "Grease"
Special Community Event: Mayor's Senior Social "Rustic Roots"
👢 2:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. at Exhibition Hall, Westerner Park. Live music by Cole Martin and dress in your country best!

Seniors’ Week has been recognized since 1986 and was inspired by the vision of the late Alice Modin.
Almost 40 years ago, Modin began a campaign to start a seniors’ day in Strathcona County that helped pave the way for this annual event.
