On Thursday,May 29, 2025, at approximately 3 p.m., Olds RCMP took a male into custody after receiving information that he had an illegal handgun in his possession.
Olds RCMP requested the RCMP Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services to assist with a search warrant due to the nature of the call. A search warrant was successfully executed, resulting in a male from inside a motorhome being taken into custody.
Matthew Stephen Dalton (30), a resident of Olds, has been charged with:
- Unsafe Storage of a firearm
- Possession of prohibited firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized
Dalton was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was released and is scheduled to appear at Alberta Court of Justice in Didsbury on June 16, 2025.
