The Swift Current U17 Sonic gained some experience over the weekend playing at the highest level in softball in Saskatchewan.
Attending the Shaye Amundson Memorial Tournament held in Prince Albert and Rosthern, Swift Current accepted an offer to move up from Softball Saskatchewan U17 B category to the U17 A category.
The Sonic surrendered seven runs in the third inning Friday night in a close 10-8 loss to the Battlefords Bandits.
Saturday began with an 11-1 defeat at the hands of the Regina Fighting Saints, who scored seven runs in the first inning.
Swift Current then played the out-of-province Manitoba Lightning, falling 8-4 to the team based out of Winnipeg.
The Sonic wrapped up their tournament Saturday with an 11-6 loss to the Regina Royals. The Royals broke a 5-5 tie in the sixth inning, plating six runs.
Swift Current will return to action on Wednesday night in Moose Jaw Ladies Fastball action when they face the Moose Jaw Heat.
