Chestermere RCMP and Calgary Police Service (CPS) arrested and charged two youths for multiple break and enters throughout the area.

Police began investigating the break-ins in May, with reports being made throughout Calgary, Chestermere, and Airdrie.

"The offenders broke into private residences through main floor windows and took items such as the victims’ wallets and car keys," wrote RCMP. "The keys were then used to steal a number of the victims’ vehicles."

On May 30, Chestermere RCMP helped CPS intercept one of the stolen vehicles and interrupt a break and enter in progress.

"With the assistance of the Calgary Police Service, two 17-year-old youth, residents of Calgary and Airdrie, were taken into custody by Chestermere and Strathmore RCMP," added police.

Each of the two youth have been charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property, theft of a motor vehicle, and theft under $5,000. They have not been named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Additional charges may be laid as the investigation continues.
