Swift Current's Ethan Murdoch had an impactful Monday night at the plate at the expense of his hometown Swift Current 57s.

The former 57s slugger went 1-3 at the dish, walking and scoring twice, and driving in a pair on a first-inning home run in the Saskatoon Berries' 9-4 win at Cairns Field. Saskatoon's Cory Wouters went 3-for-5 with four RBIs, including a two-run homer for the Berries.

Meanwhile, Swift Current's Ethan Bailey went 1-for-4 with an RBI and Swift Current's Rydell Adair also went 1-for-4 with a run scored in the loss for the 57s.

The 57s opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with a run but relinquished it in the bottom half as Murdoch went yard and the Berries tacked on one more, making it 3-1.

Saskatoon extended their lead in the fifth with two more runs, courtesy of the big fly from Wouters. 

The 57s cut the deficit to 5-2 in the seventh, but the Berries tacked on two more in the bottom of the frame, and another two in the eighth inning to lead 9-2.

Swift Current scored twice in the top of the ninth before falling 9-4, their fifth straight loss to begin the season.

The 0-5 57s welcome the 0-3 Lethbridge Bulls to Mitchell Field Wednesday night for Pack the Park in support of the Southwest Facility Foundation.
