It’s officially Pride Season in Canada! 🌈

Pride Season refers to the wide range of Pride events that take place across Canada during the summer months—from June through September.

This is a time when 2SLGBTQI+ communities and allies come together to spotlight resilience, celebrate talent, and honour the contributions of 2SLGBTQI+ people across the country.

While most Pride events take place in the summer, many communities celebrate Pride throughout the year, reflecting the ongoing commitment to equity, visibility, and joy.

Pride gatherings have deep roots in protest and activism.

In Canada, the first major demonstrations for 2SLGBTQI+ rights were held in Ottawa and Vancouver in 1971.

By 1973, Pride events had expanded to several Canadian cities, including Montréal, Ottawa, Saskatoon, Toronto, Vancouver, and Winnipeg.

Today, Toronto’s Pride weekend is one of the largest Pride celebrations in North America.

Right here in the community, the Lacombe Pride Society is gearing up for their Pride Weekend, happening August 22–24.

They’ve released this inspiring message to kick off Pride Month:

“🌈Pride 2025 is all about how we come together and fight to protect our rights and freedoms while amplifying queer art, voices, and joy! 💚❤️🧡💛🩷💙

We hope to see you all very soon as we will have a few opportunities over the coming months to celebrate with us.”
