Residents of Cochrane and Mînî Thnî will have improved access to life-saving breast cancer screening later this month, as Alberta Health Services’ (AHS) Screen Test mobile mammography unit makes a local stop.

The mobile service will be available at the Stoney Health Centre in Mînî Thnî from June 16 to 18, and at the Cochrane Community Health Centre from June 19 to 21 and again from June 23 to 25.

The service provides free screening mammograms to eligible individuals aged 45 to 74, but appointments are required. Bookings can be made by calling 1-800-667-0604.

According to AHS, the test improves access to cancer screening for thousands of women in Alberta communities where mammography is not readily available.

The Screen Test program aims to increase accessibility for rural and remote communities that don’t have easy access to screening facilities.

Individuals are encouraged to speak with their healthcare providers to assess personal risk and determine if screening is right for them.

More information on eligibility and screening locations is available at screeningforlife.ca.
