Coming off a championship season, the Sylvan Lake Wranglers of the Heritage Junior Hockey League (HJHL) will host their Legacy Night on June 12 to honour players, graduates, and community supporters.
Previously held as a private awards night for players and families, this year marks the first time the public and sponsors are invited to attend.
“It’s a bit more of a celebration and a way to thank sponsors that helped support the hockey club throughout the year and to acknowledge our players for a championship,” said Pat Garritty, general manager of the team.
In addition to presenting nine team trophies, the event will recognize graduating 21-year-old players and award scholarships to those who pursued post-secondary or trade education throughout the season.
A special highlight of the night will be the debut of a documentary video titled Unfinished Business: The Road to the HJHL Championship.
“It’s a documentary about our final series against the Okotoks Bisons,” said Garritty.
The four-part series—one part for each game—captures the emotion and offers a behind-the-scenes look at the championship round.
Tickets are $25 and include a light meal. A bar will also be available for beverage purchases.
The event takes place at the NexSource Centre in the Strategis Rooms, with doors opening at 7 p.m.
Sunny 94’s Tank Montana will serve as host.
