May 2025's Building Permit Valuation Report shows a moderate increase in the number of permits issued by the City of Moose Jaw—27 total, up from 20 in May 2024—but at a considerably higher value. Permits issued last month reached a combined value of $9,053,488, four times higher than the year prior, an increase of $6,792,953.

The spike in value was driven primarily by two major high-value projects, one being a commercial new construction permit worth $2.8 million on 839 Snyder Rd, the other a $3.7 million permit for new construction of apartments at 1255 11th Ave SW.

Commercial permits amounting to $3.52 million made up nearly 39 per cent of the total value in May, driven primarily by the new build on Snyder Rd, with additional $496,000 and $200,000 in alterations and improvements permits for 369B and 495 Thatcher Dr E, respectively, making up much of the remainder.

Additionally, two Institutional and Government permits for alterations and improvements at 600 Saskatchewan St W valued at $359,000 and $150,000 were issued in May.

The aforementioned $3.7 million permit on 1255 11th Ave SW made up 55 per cent of the value of residential permits in May. Also of note, was a $542,588 alterations and improvements permit granted to 450 Langdon Crescent and a new construction permit for $360,000 for 78 Clunie Court.

Between January 1, and May 31, 2025, a total of 76 permits valued at $21,967,977 were issued, up from 75 permits worth $13,770,270 in that same time period in 2024—an increase of $8,197,707 or 59 per cent.
