With sparkling style and charitable spirit, the Diva for a Day Golf Tournament this year will being glamour to the greens in support of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Humboldt.

The 10th edition of the event is set for Saturday at the Humboldt Golf Club.

Program Lead Jillina Beaudoin says it’s shaping up to be another fun afternoon with 152 golfers expected to hit the links with this year’s theme being Glam-Ma.

“Celebrating the Golden Age with glitz and glam and style, so sure to be lots of fun seeing everyone dressed up and the golf carts and everything.”

Following the registration, golfers will enjoy a brunch with speeches, which will be followed by the caddy auction. This year, six men have volunteered to serve as caddies.

There will also be raffles and prizes for the best score, most honest score, and the best dressed squad.

Another feature of the tournament is the wine pull Beaudoin explains.

“People buy tickets, they pull a random bottle of wine that's covered and one of the bottles has a $100 bill on it. You don't know what it is until you pick it, so that's always a really fun game that we do there too.”

70 per cent of the budget for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Humboldt comes through funding with Beaudoin noting that the Divas for a Day Golf Tournament and the Bowl for Kids' Sake in February are the two biggest fundraisers for the organization.

This summer, the Big Brothers and Big Sisters will be holding a Summer Day camp in August.

Beaudoin added the high school mentorship program has exploded in Muenster and is hopeful to expand the program to other schools in the Horizon School Division.

While they’re based in Humboldt, Beaudoin says they offer services around the surrounding area including communities like St. Brieux and Annaheim and encourages and rural residents to become a mentor

“If you are thinking are thinking about it and if you live outside the Humboldt area, you're like, oh, I don't live in Humboldt. There might be options for you because travel barriers are very much a thing for rural communities,” she added, “please let us know. We will find a program that fits you.”
