The Central Alberta Children’s Festival is back for its 19th year, bringing two full days of family-friendly fun to Recreation Centre Park in Red Deer.

Taking place today and tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the annual event offers children and families the chance to learn, play and explore through hands-on activities and live entertainment.

With more than 40 tents and activity stations set up throughout the park, the festival features a wide range of interactive opportunities, including Science World, Pioneer Village, arts and crafts, storytelling, and physical games.

Highlights also include areas focused on health and wellness, creativity, and cultural diversity, such as "The Diversity Corner".

Local and national performers will take the stage to entertain with music, dance, and even a little magic.

The lineup includes returning favourites as well as new acts, with a focus on engaging audiences of all ages.

The festival emphasizes development across five key domains: social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional.

Organizers say the goal is to foster imagination, learning and play in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Admission is $10 per person or $35 per family, with all activities and performances included in the cost.

Food options will be available, including a hot dog and chip sale on-site but note that only cash will be accepted at the gates and BBQ.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch, snacks and water bottles.

Supported by community partners, the Central Alberta Children’s Festival aims to provide affordable, culturally diverse programming for families across the region.

Children of all ages — from zero to 99 — are welcome.
