Cochrane's community spirit was on full display on Sunday as families, friends, and supporters gathered for the annual JDRF Breakthrough T1D Walk, raising an impressive $12,382. Among the local champions leading the charge was 13-year-old Brodie Rosene and his team, who alone brought in $2,744.
“I’m blown away!” said Brodie’s mom, Megan Hamel, in a post-event update. “Another year, another walk for Breakthrough T1D Canada, and Brodie's team has raised $2,744. Our total over three years? $7,500! I'm so grateful for this community. Thanks to all who donated—you’re helping make a difference!”
Now in his third year of fundraising and participating in the walk, Brodie continues to inspire others with his determination and positivity. Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of seven, he has turned his diagnosis into a mission to raise awareness and fund critical research for a cure.

The Cochrane walk was one of many taking place across the country, bringing together families affected by type 1 diabetes along with supporters and advocates.
