With the Saskatchewan Roughriders back on the field, SGI is hoping that people making a long-distance trip to their games will do so responsibly. Last year, SGI and the Roughriders entered into a partnership to remind people about safe driving practices during their games.

They're doing it again this year, explains SGI Manager of Media Relations Heather Hubic.

"Visitors to Mosaic Stadium, they're gonna see messaging around finding a safe ride, and that will appear on big screens, on wristbands, parking passes throughout Mosaic Stadium. Rider fans will also be seeing this messaging at the safe rides, or will also be seeing the SGI safe ride messaging at the events at the party in the park. So this is a great way to remind people that it's important to find a safe ride home and never drive impaired."

For those fans who drive hours to the Roughriders game, Hubic says they'll have to make sure they have plans in place for a safe ride home.

"Fans travelling from out of town may have to do a bit more creative planning to make sure they get a safe sober ride home, since some options like taxis and Ubers aren't available to them. So even when those options are limited, there's no excuse to drive impaired. It's just as important for those out-of-town folks to ensure that they've also planned ahead to find a safe ride home."

Hubic recommends getting a hotel room, staying with family or a friend who lives in the city, or designating a driver in advance who can drive everyone home safely.

She also sends out a reminder that as summer progresses and more people are enjoying the season, they should have a plan to avoid impaired driving.

"We wanna remind people this time of year, there's a lot of fun activities happening, but it's really important to plan ahead and make sure you can get home safely. So if you do plan to be consuming drugs or alcohol, plan in advance, line up that safe ride home so you can get safely home, and your friends and family can too."

Hubic asks people to enjoy the game, have fun,  and make sure that they can find a safe ride home afterwards.
