The Abbotsford Canucks knocked off the Texas Stars in dramatic fashion last night to advance to the Calder Cup championship series.
Trailing 2–0 midway through the game, the Canucks stormed back with four unanswered goals—including an empty-netter—to capture the AHL Western Conference title.
Abbotsford took the series in six games. The Stars forced a return to B.C. with a 2–1 overtime win on June 5.
It marks the first time the Vancouver Canucks’ affiliate has reached the league final.
They’ll face the Charlotte Checkers, the Florida Panthers’ AHL affiliate, in Game 1 on Friday. The Checkers swept the regular-season champion Laval Rocket to claim the Eastern Conference crown.
