The Marysburg Royals improved their record for the season to 7-1 following a pair of victories over the Saskatoon Hoppers on Sunday afternoon.
Game 1 the Royals dominated on their way to an 11-1 victory, but Game 2 was a lot closer, as they edged out the Hoppers 4-3.
Cole Bauml’s power hitting was on display in Game 1 as he cranked out a pair of home runs and ended the game with three hits and 5 RBIs.
Tom Hooker chipped in with three RBIs, on a pair of hits. Brody Frerichs had two hits and scored three times.
Thomas Lessmeister earned the win on the mound. He pitched six innings, allowing one run on eight hits and recorded three strikeouts.
In Game 2. Jack Biemans single in the bottom of the 5th inning scored the game winning run for Marysburg.
The Hoppers opened the game with a pair of runs in the top of the inning before the Royals answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning.
Frerichs had a home run for the Royals and ended the game with two RBIs and a pair of hits.
Joel Bauml got the victory, tossing six innings and allowing three runs on six hits with seven strikeouts. Nick Anderson got the save with a scoreless inning.
Next action for the Royals is on Saturday as they host the Saskatoon Outlaws for a doubleheader.
