ROSETOWN, Sask. — RCMP in the Rosetown and Kyle regions responded to a wide range of calls during the week of June 6 to 12, including collisions with wildlife, suspicious activity, and reports of fraudulent phone calls targeting residents.
On June 6, Kyle RCMP were called to a vehicle-deer collision on Highway 4 near Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park. Later that day, officers responded to a grain truck rollover near Lucky Lake, where no injuries were reported. Mounties also dealt with a traffic hazard near the park involving a broken-down semi-tractor and attended an animal-related complaint with the help of Saskatchewan Environment officers.
That same afternoon, Rosetown RCMP conducted a wellness check in the community.
On June 7, Rosetown RCMP were alerted to fraudulent phone calls in the area. The scam involved callers claiming to represent STARS Air Ambulance and telling residents they had won large cash prizes. Police are reminding the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious calls.
Several wellness checks were conducted throughout the week in Elrose and Rosetown. Officers also responded to a suspicious person complaint in Rosetown on June 7 and asked the individual to leave the premises.
A driving complaint near Rosetown on June 8 did not result in further police action.
On June 9, police were contacted about a possible person-related offence, but no charges were laid following an investigation. Officers also received an update related to an ongoing investigation into a paving scam reported earlier in Rosetown.
Other June 9 incidents included a traffic complaint on Highway 7 near Fiske, a hit-and-run involving a parked vehicle in Rosetown, and a two-vehicle collision near Harris. No injuries were reported in any of the cases.
A suspicious vehicle complaint in Beechy on June 11 did not result in police locating the vehicle. A separate wellness check near Rosetown was also conducted that day.
Over the week, officers issued 61 traffic-related charges. RCMP also responded to one 911 misdial and two false alarm calls.
