Airdrie singer-songwriter Brandon Lorenzo is ready to hit the ground running this summer with a full lineup of shows, including a return to a community he calls a second home: Cochrane.
Lorenzo will be the featured performer at the CochraneNow Stampede Pancake Breakfast on July 9, and says he’s looking forward to once again playing for a crowd that always shows up in full force.
“Every time we get to come out to Cochrane, it just feels really good,” Lorenzo says. “You’ve always really made me feel welcome. It honestly feels like a hometown crowd.”
This summer is shaping up to be one of Lorenzo’s busiest yet, with 23 Stampede performances booked and a tour schedule that includes shows across Alberta and into British Columbia. He’s also eyeing a return to Nashville for more showcase gigs.
“We’re trying to stay busy and get out to new places we haven’t played before,” he says. “There are a lot of small-town events, agricultural fairs, and some new venues in B.C. we’re looking at for summer and even into the fall.”
Despite the packed calendar, Lorenzo is also balancing his career as a Grade 2 teacher. He jokes about trying to squeeze in sleep whenever possible ahead of Stampede week.
“Wrapping up the school year and heading into Stampede... I try to get as much rest as I can now,” he laughs. “You kind of adapt after a while.”
