Rocky View County residents are invited to take part in the 38th Annual Agricultural Tour on Thursday, July 24, which is shining the spotlight on the agriculture industry close to Cochrane.
The day-long bus tour will travel through the scenic southwest region of the county, showcasing the agricultural heritage and innovation of communities such as Springbank and Jumping Pound.
Stops on the tour include visits to local farms and agri-businesses, such as Diamond 7 Ranch, Kestril Ridge Farm, and a look at reclamation efforts at the Copithorne Aggregate Pit. Participants will also take in an equine demonstration and get a behind-the-scenes look at the work shaping the local agricultural landscape.
The $65 ticket includes transportation, lunch, and dinner. The day will conclude with a banquet and keynote address by retired Alberta Deputy Minister of Agriculture John Knapp at the Balzac Community Hall. Knapp, who spent 36 years with the provincial government, will share insights from his time in the agriculture sector. The event will also feature the presentation of the Master Farm Family Award.
Check-in begins at 8 a.m., with buses departing promptly at 8:30 a.m. from the Balzac Community Hall.
Residents are encouraged to register early and take advantage of this opportunity to explore the county, connect with neighbours, and celebrate Rocky View’s farming legacy.
You can register online at Rocky View County Agriculture Tour. The deadline is Friday, July 18.
