The RCMP-led Integrated Safety and Security Group (ISSG) has announced the lifting of several security measures, with more to follow, as foreign dignitaries begin departing the province from the G7 Leaders Summit.

Airspace restrictions, including the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), were lifted at noon today.

The Controlled Access Zone (CAZ) around key summit venues will expire tonight at 11:59 p.m., ending the need for accreditation to enter those areas.

Motor vehicle access to Highway 40 will resume from the Highway 1 intersection to the north winter closure gate at the Kananaskis Lakes Trail junction.

Highwood Pass, part of Highway 40, will reopen to all vehicle traffic on Saturday, June 21.

The designated G7 demonstration zones in Calgary and Banff are no longer in effect.

Some trails, trailheads and day-use areas remain temporarily closed for safety and sustainability reasons. Alberta Parks is providing updates on reopening timelines through its website.

The ISSG advises that some police presence will continue as crews clear equipment and wrap up operations.

The RCMP has thanked the public for its cooperation during the summit.
