The Cochrane Lions Event Centre will be rocking this Sunday, June 22, with Treble Trouble — a triple-shot of free live music events that promise something for everyone.

It all kicks off at 1:30 p.m. with a youth musical talent competition, where rising stars will battle it out for cash prizes of $250, $100, and $50.

A panel of three industry pros will be on hand to judge and give feedback to each performer before naming the top three. Hosting the show is Jacklyn Sparrow, a seasoned band leader and musical theatre performer, who’ll also hit the stage to perform a couple of numbers herself.

Nine musicians are already signed up, but organizer Edward Allen, a.k.a. The Drum Tutor, says there’s still just enough time to squeeze in a couple more. Details here

Treblemakers
Treblemakers will be accompanying the 36 drummers hitting the stage during the drum recital.

Then at 4 p.m., the energy turns up a notch with a high-powered drum recital featuring 36 drummers of all ages, backed by The Treblemakers, twice crowned best band in the Bow Valley.

It’s a follow-up to Allen’s smash hit John, Paul, George and 30 Ringos last June, where drummers of all ages rocked Beatles classics alongside cover band All You Need is Love at the Cochrane Alliance Church.

RELATED STORY

This year’s recital includes a groovy Disco Dance-Off set to Disco Inferno, the 1976 hit by The Trammps that went on to lit up the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack .

"We're going to get people up, they dance, and whoever makes their best Travolta-like moves, and perhaps even wear some 70s-style gear, as judged by the audience, will win Maui Jim sunglasses, donated by Mountainview Optometry. So that's going to be fun."

And the fun doesn’t stop there. At 7:30 p.m., the stage opens up for a full-blown open jam session — a chance for musicians of any age, instrument, or skill level to jump in, connect, and let the music flow.

"Any instrument, any age, any skill level, it's just a nice way to round out the day," said Allen.

Food and drinks will be available on site.
