A handful of southwest residents are in for a brief planned power outage this weekend as crews switch over some equipment.
The outage on Sunday will affect 1,722 customers in the Town of Shaunavon and rural areas south and southeast of Shaunavon and Dollard to locations southeast of Eastend.
Joel Cherry, spokesperson for SaskPower, shared that the outage is scheduled to run from 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. but may be over sooner.
"This is to support system stability in the area," he said. "It's sort of preventative maintenance that we're going to do to help prevent issues when we have higher demand in the summer months that come with the higher heat."

"This work is important because it helps us to make sure we can provide reliable power for our customers in the summer months," Cherry added. "We know that any outage, whether it's planned or unplanned, can be inconvenient, so we thank people for their patience as well."
