Environment Canada warns that heavy downpours can cause flash floods and pooling water on roads. Low-lying areas are particularly at risk of localized flooding. Airdrie drivers are urged to be cautious: reduce speed in poor visibility, turn on headlights, and watch for washouts near rivers, creeks, and culverts.

There is a risk of thunderstorms late this morning and continuing into the afternoon, with rainfall amounts of 5 to 10 mm expected during the day. Today’s high will reach 16°C.
Tonight, rain will continue, with a further 20 to 30 mm possible. Thunderstorms remain a risk this evening, with gusting winds near midnight. The low will dip to 7°C.
The rain is forecast to persist through Saturday morning, tapering off into scattered showers by the afternoon. Another 15 to 25 mm is expected. Winds will strengthen, gusting up to 50 km/h. Saturday’s high will be a cool 11°C.
