Estevan Police Service members responded to several calls over the past week, including thefts, suspicious activity and a case of cryptocurrency fraud.

On June 17, police were called to a vacant lot in the east end industrial area for a report of suspicious people and vehicles on the property. All parties were spoken to, and police are continuing to investigate whether the individuals had permission to be there.

A report of cryptocurrency fraud was received, prompting police to remind the public to exercise caution when investing. They encourage individuals to research thoroughly before investing and to consult financial institutions, which are valuable resources in avoiding scams.

A blue Rocky Mountain bicycle was reported stolen. This is one of several recent bike thefts in the area. Police remind residents to properly secure their bicycles and keep them out of sight when not in use.

Officers responded to a burglar alarm at a local banking institution. The building was found secure and no further police action was required.

A 29-year-old man from Paradise Hill turned himself in on an outstanding warrant from another jurisdiction. He was arrested and later released with a new court date.

Police were called to a local liquor establishment to assist staff who had been approached by loiterers harassing them as they left the building. Officers escorted staff to their vehicles and dispersed the individuals.

On June 19, members responded to a report of individuals sleeping in a local park. The people were asked to leave the area.

A 911 hang-up call led police to assist EMS at a residence where a man was experiencing medical distress.

A man known to police was reported for trespassing at a local business. He was located and charged.

Police also received a report of a break and enter at a business. The building had been vandalized, and the investigation is ongoing.

A female victim reported receiving indecent communications on her cell phone. A statement was taken and the matter remains under investigation.

Police responded to reports of a man walking down the middle of the road. He was located and taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital for assessment.

A suspicious male was reported jumping a fence into a secure area at a local business. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate him.

Multiple curfew checks were conducted during night shift. One individual was not present for curfew and will be arrested and charged with breaching conditions when located.

A roadside sobriety check resulted in a male driver being arrested after showing signs of impairment. A field sobriety test was conducted, which he failed. He was taken to hospital for a blood sample. Charges are pending the results of the analysis.

Police were called after reports of birds being shot within city limits. No birds were found to have been shot, but one injured bird was located. It could not be saved and was euthanized.

An erratic driver was reported, and police conducted a traffic stop. The driver was issued a warning.
