Redwood Meadows townsite officials have issued a boil water advisory out of an abundance of caution due to increased turbidity in the Elbow River.
In a notice to residents, officials said the town’s water treatment plant is keeping up with demand and water quality remains within Health Canada guidelines.
"With the increased turbidity, the townsite, to err on the side of caution, is issuing a boil water advisory," the statement reads.
Officials have notified Health Canada of the advisory and say they will continue to monitor water quality and advise residents when the advisory is lifted.
Residents are being asked to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before consuming it. That includes drinking, making infant formula or juice, brushing teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, or making ice.
Boiling the water will destroy any microorganisms that may be present, officials say.
