Cochrane is going big for Canada Day this year, with platinum-selling rockers Faber Drive leading the charge.

Faber Drive frontman Dave Faber says the band is fired up to headline. “We try to have as much fun as we can,” he says. “We try to involve the crowd, talking to them, getting them singing along, laughing, just having a great time.”

The band has been back on the road recently, playing shows across the country. “There’s kind of a nostalgia thing coming back for us this year,” Faber says. “People are wanting to hear some Faber Drive again. So that's pretty exciting and we’re thankful.”

Fans can expect all the hits, along with a few surprises. “We’re going to do a couple of country songs, some classic Faber Drive stuff, and even a cover of ‘(I Just) Died in Your Arms’ with a bit more of a rock edge,” he says.

As for Canada Day, Faber says it means a lot to perform on the country's birthday.

“It’s an honour. We’re very excited to celebrate with fellow Canadians, especially in Alberta. Man, we love Alberta.”

In fact, Alberta feels a bit like a second home for the B.C based band. “I’ve thought about moving there many times,” he says. “We’ve got friends and family in Calgary and Lethbridge.”

The family-friendly celebration will take over Mitford Park on July 1, packed with activities, live music and a massive fireworks show to cap it all off.
