We're taking a look at some of the latest work by the Estevan Fire Rescue as they were responding to a number of situations over the previous week.
Starting on June 16, a crew headed to a residential fire alarm at 9:32 a.m. in the Northwest area of Estevan. Once there, the crew found no emergency was occurring, with the alarm going off thanks to construction work.
The next day, on June 17, a crew was dispatched to and assisted with a call for EMS assistance.
After a day without calls, June 19 saw a crew get dispatched to a commercial fire alarm at 8:15 a.m. in the Northwest area of the city. The crew was updated quickly that the alarm was due to construction work on site, with no assistance required.
Later that morning, a call came in at 11:00 a.m. with a crew being requested to come to a property in the central part of the city for a service investigation of possible gas in the building. Duty officers looked through the building with gas detection equipment, with their investigation coming up negative.
Finishing off the busy day on June 19 was a call about a residential fire alarm in the North Central area of the city. While responding, crews were updated that the alarm was cooking-related and assistance was not needed. Crews stood down in response.
On the day of June 20, a call came in at 12:14 p.m. for another residential fire alarm in the Northeast area of the city. Upon responding, crews found that the alarm was due to a cooking-related issue and their assistance was not required.
The last day on June 21, saw a crew dispatched for a HAZMAT investigation in the Northeast area of the city at around 10:00 p.m. Crews responded to the scene and found a small container of chemical in the area. The crews confirmed that the container was still sealed with no spillage and secured the container, which was removed without incident. EFR will confirm the chemical and properly dispose of it.
