The Swift Current 57's look to build on their successful weekend as they start a six-game WCBL road swing through Alberta tonight.

57's Head Coach Ruddy Estrella was impressed by their offence scoring 40 runs in two games on the weekend.

"It's good to see the bats waking up and showing up," Estrella said. "It's amazing to see what this team is made of and they can put out what they can put out once they decide to show up."

It wasn't just contact, but the approach and execution at the plate.

"Just making the little plays," Estrella said. "Executing the bunts, the hit and runs, the steals, those are key moments of the game we have to keep executing. Being selective at the plate. We got a lot walks this weekend as well that helped produce and pass the baton on to the next guy."

A focus on the road will be limiting their runs allowed.

"Just our pitchers gotta come out and compete," Estrella said. "We've got to limit the walks, and we've got to execute the routine plays. We can't give out free stuff."

A six-game trip in Alberta will be a good opportunity for the team to connect.

"It's a big bonding moment with the long hours," Estrella said. "It's good momentum that we finished the weekend with two wins, and great momentum to come onto a road trip with wins behind our back. Just keep the same mentality we've been having all week. Come out, show up, and keep competing."

The 57's start the trip against a Fort McMurray team that is also sitting at 5 wins and is at the bottom of the West Division.

"I expect a pretty competitive game from both sides," Estrella said. "Pretty excited to see what Adam Korte can give us starting today for our first game against Fort Mac. It's a good game to keep momentum going and try to chip away to catch up to that 4th place."

Korte is 1-1 with a 1.97 earned run average on the season.

First pitch is 7:05 PM tonight.
