Cochrane football players will suit up for three Alberta teams this summer following an extensive selection process by Football Alberta.

Cochrane Cobra Tyler Clazie has been named to the receiving corps of Alberta’s U18 squad for the Football Canada Cup. Fellow Cobra Evan Samoleski also made the team as a defensive back but is sidelined by injury.

Three other Cobras were in the running after advancing to the Top 100 camp held in Red Deer in May.

This year’s Football Canada Cup runs July 12 to 20 in Antigonish, N.S.

Linebacker Ronen McClelland has been named to Alberta’s roster for the U17 Western Showcase, taking place July 3 to 10 in Kelowna. Alberta is the defending champion.

Cochrane Lions defensive back Preston Lutchman is heading to Winnipeg for the Football Canada U16 Western Challenge, set for June 30 to July 5.

At both showcases, Alberta will face other rep teams from British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
