It is with great sadness the family of Marjorie (Marj) Anne Spate (Pollock) announce her passing. She passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, at the Herbert Long Term Care Facility. At Marj’s request, no formal service will be held at this time.

Marjorie is survived by her children: Kevin Spate and Janice Spate (Jeff Collins); Grandchildren: Kase Spate, Logan Spate, and Ethan Collins; Brothers: Allen Pollock and Bob Pollock; Sister-in-law: Clara Derksen; Nephew: Roger Stolson (Susan Stolson); Niece: Valerie Stolson; and many more Nieces and Nephews.

She was Predeceased by her Husband: Leonard Spate; Mother and Father: Elmer Pollock and Alice Pollock (Crisp); Sister-in-Law Joyce.

Marj was born on January 30, 1942, and on April 13, 1962 she married the love of her life, Leonard Spate. Marj loved being the wife of a farmer, from baking bread to add to the daily meals and delivering them out to the field, to raising and caring for the occasional orphan elk calf. On top of being a farmer’s wife, she also spent her time as a hairdresser; she had a passion for the craft and was always looking to try the newest trends. The only thing that came close to her love for Leonard was the love she had for her children, and grandchildren. When they weren’t working on the farm or spending precious time with family, they travelled south to spend winters in Arizona, and eventually Mexico.

Those who knew Marj knew that she and Leonard were rarely away from each other’s side for the entirety of their 62 years of marriage until Leonard’s passing in March of 2025. Marj missed Leonard dearly after his passing. We are thankful she is now free from pain, and reunited with Leonard after a short 2.5 months; they are now eternally at peace together. It brings her family great comfort to know both Marj and Leonard are reunited once more. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

The Family of Marj would like to extend a huge thank you to the Staff at Herbert Long Term Care Facility and Prairie Wind Estate. Your compassion and care went above and beyond, you all held a special place in her heart.
