The Spray Lake Sawmills Recreation Park Society (SLSRPS) says it’s ready to move forward with renewed purpose following the conclusion of the recent RFP process for the management of Cochrane’s major recreation facility.

In a public statement, the board reaffirmed its dedication to delivering high-quality, community-focused recreation services, and praised the professionalism and resilience of staff for maintaining strong operations throughout the uncertain period.

“Thanks to their efforts, the SLS Centre continues to operate at a high level, with a cost recovery rate nearing 93 per cent,” reads the statement. “This speaks to a strong operational foundation and the collaborative relationships we’ve built with our community and sport partners.”

With the RFP process behind them, the board says attention is now shifting back to several key initiatives that had been temporarily paused.

“As we move forward, our focus returns to the many exciting projects and initiatives that were temporarily paused,” the statement continues. “Our board is committed to strong governance and ensuring the organization remains focused on accessible, efficient, and best-in-class service.”

The society also acknowledged the importance of working alongside both the Town of Cochrane and Rocky View County—the joint owners of the facility—as demand for recreation continues to rise with population growth.

“There is important work ahead, and we are committed to advancing it with renewed clarity and purpose,” the board states.

They closed by extending thanks to all levels of SLSRPS staff—front-line, support, and management—for their adaptability and continued dedication to serving the community.
