The Swift Current AAA Nutrien Ag Solutions 57s were able to hold off the hard-charging White Butte Broncos Sunday afternoon, continuing their recent string of strong play.

Porter Burnett and Rudy Giesbrecht each had a pair of RBIs in the Swift Current 8-6 win over the Broncos on Country 94.1's Local Sports Live powered by OMT Projects.

"The kids came out swinging right away and got a good lead right away," 57s assistant coach Nick Giesbracht said. "Everyone was on their bats and on their game."

The 57s offence wasted no time, plating at least a run in the first four innings, racing out to a 7-0 lead.

The advantage was aided by starting pitcher Blake Reiter tossing three scoreless innings while striking out four batters in his afternoon of work.

"I felt pretty confident," Reiter said on Country 94.1's Local Sports Live postgame show. "I felt like I could have thrown a bit more strikes. I had trouble finding the zone in the last few innings, but in the first few, I felt really good about myself."

White Butte's bats awoke in the top of the fifth inning as they erupted for six runs, cutting the deficit to 7-6.

Luke Feiffer came up clutch for Swift Current in the bottom of the fifth inning, providing an insurance run with an RBI scoring catcher Reef Wagner, who had two extra-base hits in the contest.

Swift Current has collected seven points in their last four games, winning three and tying one. They now sit in third place in the SaskTel 11U AAA standings at 10-4-1 on the season.
