UPDATE: At 1:15 p.m., Carlyle RCMP sent out a new message claiming to have charged a man with assault.

As a result of their investigation, Carlyle RCMP charged 21-year-old Darias Obey from White Bear First Nation with one count of aggravated assault.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest, with Carlyle RCMP actively working to locate him. They describe Obey as around 6’4” and 210 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes.

If a resident sees Obey, RCMP asks not to approach him and instead contact Carlyle RCMP by dialling 310-RCMP.

The Carlyle RCMP is hoping for help in identifying the circumstances behind a man who was assaulted over the weekend.

Around 5:30 a.m. on June 28, Carlyle RCMP responded to a report of an injured adult male who had walked to a residence on White Bear First Nation seeking assistance.

Investigators currently believe he was the victim of a serious assault. He was then transported to a hospital with what were described as serious injuries. The RCMP says they do not have an update on the individual's current condition.

Carlyle RCMP continues to investigate the incident, with the department providing an update once that becomes available. They will also send an update if an imminent risk to public safety is identified.

Anyone with information is encouraged to report it to Carlyle RCMP at 310-RCMP or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
