Ponoka RCMP have released a record of some of the arrests made in the month of June.
Here is the list:
June 4, 2025 – Ponoka RCMP received a report of a vehicle travelling north bound in the south bound lane on highway 2A. Members responded and, in their patrols, located the suspect vehicle driving on 2A near Burger King. The investigation resulted in the driver failing a roadside screening for alcohol and was arrested for warrants out of Calgary. The vehicle was seized for 30 days, and the driver was held until sober and released with a Calgary court date.
June 5, 2025 – Members responded to a disturbance at the Western Budget hotel. Guests were intoxicated and causing a disturbance. Upon arrival members were advised that the guest was inside the room heavily intoxicated and cutting themselves. The guest was spoken to and provided a courtesy ride to their residence.
June 9, 2025 – Ponoka RCMP responded to a report of a male passed out on a bench in the Centennial Park. Members attended and located the male face down on the ground, obvious signs of impairment when spoken to. The male was arrested and released when sober.
June 16, 2025 – Lacombe Police requested assistance with a stolen vehicle that had fled from the officers and was traveling on highway 2. Ponoka RCMP attended the scene where the stolen truck had hit the ditch, and the lone driver ran on foot. Multiple resources were called in and the male was apprehended in the nearby trees. Charges are pending.
June 18, 2025 – Ponoka town employees reported to police that there was a male passed out on the grass in the tractor park. Members attended and located the heavily intoxicated male who was provided accommodations until sober, no charges laid.
June 19, 2025 – Ponoka General Hospital reported to police that a male was calling the hospital multiple times advising that he was in Vietnam, Canmore and Jasper. The male made threats to harm himself. Police were able to determine that the male was calling from Banff and advised the local RCMP of the situation.
June 20, 2025 – Ponoka RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious male walking around holding a bat. Members conducted extensive patrols but were unable to locate the male.
June 22, 2025 – A blue Ford F150 was reported travelling southbound on highway 2, driving erratically. Several more reports received for the same vehicle driving swerving and unable to maintain the lane. Ponoka members were unable to intercept but forwarded the reports south. The suspicious vehicle was located by Innisfail RCMP where the driver was found to be impaired.
June 22, 2025 – Reports received of an ultralight plane that had to do an emergency landing on a township road west of the Ponoka airport. Members attended and located the plane that was pushed of the road, no injuries involved. The pilot was arranging to have the plane removed from the road.
June 26, 2025 – A very intoxicated female called the police to inquire about acquiring a restraining order. The female would not provide any personal details when spoken to by police. The member provided direction on how to obtain a restring order, and the female disconnected
