A group of protesters walking on Highway 2 north of Prince Albert on Canada Day prompted six separate 911 calls when they blocked a bridge to traffic flow.
After receiving the calls shortly after 3 pm on July 1, Prince Albert RCMP responded to the site approximately 20 kilometres north of the city. Reports from the public indicated that the protesters were striking the police vehicles as they moved through the protesters.
Two females and five males refused to vacate the highway, so each was ticketed under the Traffic and Safety Act for unlawfully walking on a highway. When an adult female refused to leave the highway, she was arrested and taken into police custody for safety reasons.
A release from the RCMP stated that no charges have been laid, and no other people were arrested. Police say they have no further information on the incident.
