The City of Grande Prairie has advanced its 2025 capital construction season with road rehabilitation work beginning today (Wednesday, July 2) on Crystal Lake Drive between 124 Avenue and Lakeland Drive, helping extend the life of the roadway and improve driving comfort. This work includes asphalt overlay paving in areas requiring surface improvements but not full reconstruction.
Additional work in Crystal Ridge is scheduled to begin around July 7 at the following locations:
·123 Avenue between Crystal Ridge Road and 97B Street.
·97B Street between 123 Avenue and 128 Avenue.
The Crystal Ridge work includes road rehabilitation such as asphalt milling and Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) where needed.
Storm sewer repairs, concrete spot replacements, refreshed line markings and crosswalks and final landscaping are included at both locations.
During construction, traffic is maintained with lane drops in place, reducing sections to alternating single-lane traffic as needed. Arrow boards are installed to guide drivers and flag persons are on site to assist with traffic flow when necessary. A reduced speed limit of 30 km/h applies in active work zones. Short-term closures may occur and access for local traffic remains in place. Sidewalks and pathways stay open.
