Estevan is seeing a local pharmacist who co-owned a local institution retire now that summer's rolled around. Larry Preddy, the co-owner of Hender's Drugs since January 1985, retired on June 30, celebrating over 40 years in the position.

Preddy says that it's been quite the ride, with plenty of experience in Estevan.

"I started with the Estevan Co-op in 1969, worked there for about four years and then managed the White Cross Drug Store in Estevan for another four years. Moved to Saskatoon for two and a half years. Come back to White Cross, and then Allen Miller and I purchased Henders Drugs from Dick Henders back in '85."

With decades of work experience in the pharmacy industry, Preddy says that he's seen quite a few changes, but it's still Estevan.

He's also had a great time working with his fellow co-workers and being in the community.

"The co-workers I worked with were all special to me, and my customers were all special to me."

Now he'll be continuing his commitments to the Woodlawn Regional Park, including being chairman of the park's authority, and volunteering to cut grass at the park.

After such a long career in Estevan, Preddy offers up some advice to anyone looking to make Estevan their home community for life.

"Be good to the people, and they'll be good to you."

Preddy and Miller sold the business to one Kristin Cote, with the sale being made this past May.
