"It was just the best thing that has ever happened to me in my whole entire life."

Swift Current's Cayson Cassidy put on a show at one of the biggest hockey tournaments in the world.

The 10-year-old led the Saskatchewan Junior Pats in points at the 2025 Brick Invitational Hockey Tournament.

The event is played on an ice surface inside the West Edmonton Mall.

It's a showcase of some of the best 10-year-old hockey players in North America.

42% of the players selected in the 1st round of the 2025 NHL Draft also played at the Brick.

"It's awesome," Cassidy said. "I led my team in points, so I'd say it was a pretty good tournament."

Cassidy had a goal and 5 assists in 6 round robin games for the Saskatchewan Junior Pats.

"It's a big goal to reach," he noted. "But you just have to work your hardest. You have to play as a team, and you can't be selfish."

Cassidy also scored twice for Team Canada in the Brickley's Showdown all-star style game between Canadian and American team players.

He was also named the 3rd star of that win for Team Canada and started a trend among goal scorers of waving a Canadian flag at centre ice.

Cassidy performed well in the tune-up events for the Junior Pats.

He had 5 points in 5 games at the Regina Spring Classic playing against teams with 2014-born players.

He also had 3 goals in 5 games at the NAHC Elite North American Hockey Classic in Winnipeg.

Cassidy scored an eye-popping 134 goals and 33 assists in 24 games for the U11 Swift Current Mavericks in the Southwest Sask Hockey League last season.

It was still having his parents, siblings, and extended family with him that made the event so special.

"Happy that my family came and was supporting me," Cassidy said. "My aunt and uncle, and my grandma and grandpa all came to help me and support me."

Saskatchewan had a win, two overtime losses, and three regulation losses in the round robin.

Toronto Pro Hockey beat the British Columbia Junior Canucks in the championship game.
