October 13, 1935 – June 29, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family of Evelyn Colpitts announces her passing peacefully on June 29, 2025, at the age of 89.
Evelyn was born October 13, 1935, in London England. When she was a young child, her mother married a Canadian soldier, they came to Canada and first settled at Bateman, then moving to Neidpath.
In Grade 11, Evelyn was approached to teach school in Beaver Flats where she met Leonard. Evelyn and Leonard married in 1959, were they farmed in the Cabri area for numerous years until Leonard’s health got worse. Leonard passed away in 1987.
Mom then married Willard Colpitts in July 1993 in New Brunswick. They lived on Willard’s farm for a while and then moved into Cabri. Willard passed away in 2008.
Evelyn stayed in Cabri for a few years, then moved to Swift Current until her health made it difficult to live on her own. She made the decision to move into Rose Gill Lodge at Rabbit Lake. Requiring more care she then moved to the Spiritwood Long Term Care Home.
There was never a task that Evelyn could not or would not take on. Being a farmer’s wife, she was always quite involved in the daily duties, nothing beat her garden and canning. She also took on other jobs such as upholstering furniture, vehicles and cooking for groups of people. She was always there to help anyone who needed it. In later years Evelyn was involved in the Cabri Library Board, Saskatchewan Housing and her favorite, the choir.
Evelyn had a love of books and would spend a lot of time at the library. Reading was her passion, and she would spend hours reading, sometime two or three books a day. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting. She enjoyed looking into her family history. Later in life, she also enjoyed travelling. Her favorite trip was when her and Willard went to England, and she saw her original home where she grew up.
