With summer in full swing and more Albertans heading outdoors, the RCMP is reminding residents to take steps to prevent theft of, and from, vehicles during seasonal activities.
Whether you’re parked at a trailhead, campsite, or lakeside lot, police say simple actions can make a big difference.
That includes locking your vehicle at all times, even if you’re nearby, and never leaving it running while unattended, not even for a quick errand. Thieves can strike in seconds.
RCMP are also advising people to keep keys, garage openers, and personal documents out of vehicles, and to hide or lock up valuables like electronics, wallets, and outdoor gear. Securing items like bikes, kayaks, and off-highway vehicles is also recommended.
